Sedona Gem and Mineral Club Fieldtrip to Tucson

EachFebruary, we drive to Tucson for a few days at the over 40 venues thatsell everything you could ever think of related to rocks. Hotels arefilled with sellers as well as buyers. The ground floor rooms arequickly converted to shelved displays of rocks and gems from around theworld. We strolled from room to room to see beds tipped up against thewall and display shelves adorned with fabulous specimens. Other showstake over the parking lots along the highway with every size and shapeof rocks. Fine gems abound and several venues are huge wholesale showsfor jewelry materials.

TheConvention Center has the best of the best on display. The total valueof items for sale is more than one can imagine. Just cruising througheach booth can make your head spin. We meet up at several points duringthe days and gather at a preplanned dinner location to share stories ofthe day or to show off our newly purchased treasures.

It is a great way to spend a few days with good friends, great food andhopefully a few of those treasures may even follow us home.
